Japan Post Pokémon Stamps Based On Trading Cards & Traditional Art Cost ¥84 Each; Be Sure To Collect Em’ All

Japan Post has enveloped Pokémon fans in excitement with their upcoming Pokémon stamp collections. They’re based on the Pokémon Card Game, the 4 seasons, and even traditional art. The special Pokémon stamps are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also affordable – the cheapest ones go for ¥63 (~USD0.58) each.

Japan Post will be releasing Pokémon stamps based on the Pokémon Card Game, as well as the 4 seasons. The Pokémon Card Game stamps cost ¥63 (~USD0.58) each, while the seasonal-themed stamps cost ¥84 (~USD0.77) each. 

You can buy the stamps individually from any physical Japan Post office. If you’re ordering online, the Pokémon Card Game and seasonal-themed stamps are sold as sheets of 10, priced at ¥630 (~USD5.79) and ¥840 (~USD7.72) respectively.

Each Pokémon Card Game stamp measures 32mm x 23mm in size. The 10 designs feature Pikachu, Eevee, Butterfree, Cinderace, Magikarp, Mewtwo, Lucario, Liepard, Jirachi, and a Poké Ball. 10 million of such stamps are slated to be released.

The seasonal-themed stamps feature Pokémons having fun throughout the 4 seasons. There are 10 designs in total, including one where Pikachu and Pachirisu are playing amongst sakura blossoms 

The stamp sizes vary – 5 of them measure 27mm x 25.5mm, while the remaining stamps’ lengths and heights ranges from 25.5-30mm and 25.5-28.5mm respectively. 25 million seasonal-themed stamps are slated to be released.

The 2 types of stamps will go on sale starting 7th July 2021.

Japan Post is also selling a box collection at ¥4,000 (~USD36.75)

Packed in a beautiful Poké Ball-themed box, the collection includes the Pokémon Card Game Sword & Shield Family Pokemon Card Game Anytime – a pack of Pokémon cards you can play with your family – and 3 transformation cards.

It also includes 2 special Pokémon cards, for Pikachu and Cramorant, that reference Japanese traditional artworks – Beauty Looking Back by Hishikawa Moronobu and Wild Geese Flying Across Full Moon by Utagawa Hiroshige. Both artists are famous woodblock print artists.

The box collection comes with a stamp sheet containing 10 designs based on Pokémon cards, including the 2 special traditional designs.

Japan Post plans to release 80,000 of such boxes. Sales start on 25th August 2021.
