Nagashima Resort

If you’re planning to go to Nagoya for your next vacation or stopover, make sure to visit Nagashima Resort to get the best out of your trip.

Located in Mie Prefecture, it has 5 main leisure facilities: an amusement park, an Anpanman museum, an onsen, a flower park, and a large shopping mall. You literally have everything you need in one place, so you don’t have to waste time travelling from one spot to another.

Nagashima Spa Land

Nagashima Spa Land is a fun-filled, family-friendly amusement park packed with all kinds of rides – from world-record roller coaster rides for the adrenaline junkies to character-themed rides for children.

Entrance tickets to the park are sold at the ticket office and admission tickets to individual attractions are sold separately via the vending machines scattered all around the park. Otherwise, you can opt for a ticket passport at the ticket office that grants you entrance to the park and unlimited rides.

Not to worry if you visited the other Nagashima Resort attractions early in the day and only have the remaining afternoon to explore this amusement park. If you come after 3pm, there is a discount for the entrance tickets and passports.

If you’re looking for thrill and speed, Nagashima Spa Land has them in spades. Here, you’ll find the Steel Dragon 2000, the world’s longest roller coaster with a total length of 2,479 metres spanning the entire length of the park. This is definitely the ride to go on to feel as if you were on a dragon, ripping through the skies.

ナガシマスパーランド

Hakugei, also known as white whale, is Japan’s first wood and steel hybrid roller coaster. The ride begins by taking you on rotating 360 degrees on a corkscrew, before descending at the maximum speed of 107 km/h. The twists and turns of the coaster are pretty intense, so you’ll be taught by staff how to hold on to the handlebars in a safe way that prevents injuries.

Other exciting rides include the Acrobat roller coaster, Arashi roller coaster and Giant Frisbee. These rides are popular, so they offer express tickets at ¥1,000 (~USD 7.32) per ride that allows you to skip the long queues.

The Acrobat roller coaster begins with you in a prone position, before bringing you on a series of twists and turns. The highlight of the ride is near the end, where the train goes very close to the water bay and water sprays out. Don’t worry about getting drenched because you’ll feel more like you’re going through a mist than a row of water jets.

nagashima resort - arashi

The Arashi roller coaster looks like a normal roller coaster – but it isn’t. The green track has magnets which make the cars rotate 360 degrees as you ride along the track. We reckon it’ll feel like you’re in a washing machine and a roller coaster at the same time.

The Giant Frisbee is a pendulum ride that features a ring of seats that spins around as it swings back and forth.

There are also more relaxing rides to enjoy, such as the Tele-combat where you go in circles around an aircraft at a manageable speed, and the Bobcart, which is a cross between a bobsleigh and a go-kart.

Families with younger children can head to Kids Town. It has attractions such as the Fluffy Dome Trampoline and the Peter Rabbit Roller Coaster that will certainly put smiles on your kids’ faces.

Next to the Kids Town, there are plenty of arcade game machines lined up – from a shooting gallery to claw machines. There’s also a fish arcade game where you can catch virtual fish by spinning a reel, specially customised for the amusement park, like you would with a spinning rod to catch the famous hakugei (white whale).

After hours of playing, grab a bite at any one of the park’s restaurants or cafes, then head over to their gift shops to get a souvenir. If you are a Peter Rabbit fan, treat yourself to any of the Peter Rabbit merchandise there.

You can tell from its name that Super Extreme River is not for those who want to chill in a lazy river. With water splashing intensely against the river walls, you’ll be swept along with the powerful currents and taken on a bumpy ride.
