Autumn is already upon us, and the season heralds a new crop of exciting anime. Here are 10 fall anime in Oct 2022 that will make your autumn a fruitful one.
1. Spy x Family Part 2

Spy x Family – the anime that popularised “waku waku” (わくわく; onomatopoeia for excitement) – made waves with its superpowered family in April 2022. Set to continue its legacy is Spy x Family Part 2, which aired on 1st October.

Part 2 of Spy x Family features a new thrilling mission where Loid Forger must stop a bomber from running amok in Westalis. While we’ve correctly guessed that the new villain is from Ostania, Westalis’ rival country, the latest trailer reveals that his bombing objective is more criminal than we initially predicted.

The trailer gives us more insight into the terrorist’s goal, which is to spark warfare between Westalis and Ostania by assassinating the Westalis’ Foreign Minister Brantz. Though Twilight is an undercover agent in his own league, this new mission proves to be one of the hardest he’s encountered.
2. Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw Man follows protagonist Denji in a world where humans and devils coexist, sometimes forming contracts for mutual benefit. In Denji’s case, he offered blood to an injured dog-like devil, Pochita, in exchange for the power to hunt other devils and clear his debts.

Denji eventually dies at the hands of a devil, but is revived after Pochita merges with his heart.
Post-revival, Denji gains Pochita’s powers and physical attributes that resemble the devilish pooch – a cord-like tail dangling from his chest and a chainsaw sticking out of his head. On top of that, his arms turn into chainsaws when he pulls on the tail and activates Pochita’s powers. It is from this point that he becomes known as the Chainsaw Man.

3. Blue Lock

Blue Lock revolves around 300 Japanese high schoolers who aim to become professional soccer strikers. These students are invited to an isolated training venue called “Blue Lock”, where they vie for a spot on the national soccer team.
At the end of the cutthroat training programme, only 1 will succeed while the other 299 trainees are permanently banned from representing Japan in the World Cup.

4. My Hero Academia Season 6

My Hero Academia Season 6 covers the Paranormal Liberation Arc, which involves a full-blown war between the heroes and the villains. While the anime series is notorious for designating episode 1 of every new season as a recap of the previous season, those who attended My Hero Academia’s invite-only premiere event, Hero Fes 2022, have confirmed that the coming season dives straight into new content.

5. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War

Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War marks the Bleach anime’s 1st series since its hiatus in 2012, and it commemorates the long-running title’s 20th anniversary. Covering the manga’s concluding Thousand-Year Blood War Arc, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War features the ultimate showdown between 2 archenemy factions – the Quincy and the Shinigami.

6. Mob Psycho 100 III

Mob Psycho 100 III picks up from the aftermath of the big face-off between protagonist Mob and Toichiro Suzuki, the leader of the evil esper organisation Claw, in the previous season.

After absorbing lingering psychic powers from the clash, a giant broccoli sprouts amid the ruins of the battle and becomes revered as the Divine Tree. When Mob’s companion, Dimple, lusts after the tree’s influence and merges with it, the Divine Tree starts to threaten the city’s destruction.

7. The Eminence in Shadow

The Eminence in Shadow follows Cid Kagenō, who is teleported from present-day Japan to an isekai (異世界; different world) where magic is real.
Struck with chūnibyō (中二病; middle school syndrome), Kagenō believes he’s more special than others and sees his new magical world as fodder for his fantasies.

Kagenō envisages an enemy cult he must defeat and creates his own rival organisation, Shadow Garden. He then gathers members on the pretext of defeating the evil cult borne out of his imagination. Unexpectedly, the cult exists for real.
As Kagenō continues expanding Shadow Garden by spreading his “fantasies”, he unknowingly endangers himself further. We can only hope that his comrades, who ironically are all aware of the cult’s existence, are capable enough to help the middle schooler tide through the eventual confrontation.

8. Urusei Yatsura (2022)

Urusei Yatsura (2022) is a re-adaption of the 1980s series of the same name and follows Ataru Moroboshi, who’s facing the unluckiest day of his life. When the aliens invade Earth, they offer to retreat if a human representative of Earth manages to win in a game of tag against their alien princess, Lum.

Following a randomised draw, Moroboshi is selected to represent Earth in the game. Moroboshi eventually succeeds, but he unintentionally causes the alien princess to misinterpret his winning statement as a confession. As a result, Lum sticks to Moroboshi, making it hard for him to explain things to his girlfriend.

9. Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 3

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 3 follows Iruma Suzuki in the new Harvest Festival Arc, where he and his classmates hunt for ingredients for the nearing Harvest Festival – the more food they obtain, the more points they’ll get.

Higher points will yield the students higher demon ranks, which translates to better student life and higher chances of succeeding the Demon King title. As the demon school students all vie to come out on top, fans can expect yet another action-filled series that tests Suzuki’s survival skills as the only human among demons.

10. Reincarnated as a Sword

Reincarnated as a Sword starts off with a man who gets a new life as a sword. Although the man quickly adapts to the strange situation, he quickly realises that he needs a wielder with which to relieve his boredom.

The man–turned–sword soon chances upon Fran, a girl who seeks power to change her tribe’s dire circumstances. Striking a win-win alliance, the two form a duo and set off to eliminate those after Fran’s tribesmen’s lives.
