1. Iced matcha rose latte

Instead of using store-bought rose syrup or ready-made rose tea, try your hand at making rose tea from scratch using rose petals. Steeping rose petals together with dried beetroot will give your rose tea an intense pink colour that turns into a lighter hue when combined with milk.

Rose tea is high in antioxidants, which can help improve skin and hair health. It’s good for digestion as well.

Serves 1

Ingredients:

Rose tea

  • 6 rose petals
  • 60ml of hot water
  • (Optional) 3 slices of dried beetroot

Matcha latte

  • 2g of matcha powder
  • 60ml of warm water
  • 60ml of milk
  • 5-6 ice cubes

Steps:

Rose tea

  1. Add hot water to the rose petals and dried beetroot. The dried beetroot adds colour to the infusion.
  2. Steep for a couple of minutes.
  3. Pour the tea through a strainer.

Rose matcha latte

  1. Dissolve matcha powder in water. Whisk with a matcha whisk.
  2. Add the ice cubes into a glass. Pour in the milk, then rose concentrate and matcha to achieve a gradient.

2. Pumpkin spice matcha latte

Pumpkin spice matcha latte is an earthy drink perfect for sweater weather. The recipe involves cooking the ingredients over a stove, and this helps to bring out the flavours. If you want more texture in your drink, add 2-3 tablespoons of pumpkin puree to the bottom of your cup.

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • 310ml of unsweetened soy or regular milk
  • 1½ tbsp of canned pumpkin puree
  • ½ tsp of pumpkin pie spice
  • ½ tsp of vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp of water
  • 1½  tsp of matcha powder
  • 2 tbsp of organic cane sugar (to taste)

Steps:

  1. Add the pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract into a pan.
  2. Place the pan on low heat and mix the 3 ingredients together.
  3. Add in matcha powder and water, then mix well.
  4. Pour in the soy milk and mix until smooth.
  5. Add in sugar and mix till it dissolves.
  6. Pour into a cup and serve.
  7. (Optional) Top it off with whipped cream and cinnamon powder.

3. Iced coconut matcha latte

Coconut milk is a good lactose-free substitute for regular milk. It also adds a nutty flavour to the latte. Unlike nut milks, coconut milk is a lot richer and creamier. When making this drink, leave out the honey if your coconut milk already contains added sugar.

Ingredients:

  • 60ml of hot water
  • 1 tsp of sifted matcha powder
  • 175ml of coconut milk
  • 1 tsp of coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp of honey
  • Ice cubes

Steps:

  1. Pour matcha powder and hot water into a blender. Blend well until the matcha powder has dissolved.
  2. Add in coconut milk, coconut oil, and honey. Blend the ingredients until they are well-combined.
  3. Add some ice cubes to a cup. Pour the coconut matcha latte over the ice cubes and serve.

4. Pistachio matcha latte

Pistachio matcha lattes are creamy, nutty, and earthy.

Since pistachio milk isn’t readily available in stores, this recipe will teach you to make your own. Pistachios contain high levels of unsaturated fatty acids and are high in protein, making it a healthy snack that also boosts your metabolism. In addition, pistachio milk has a relatively mild taste compared to other dairy-free milks.

Serves 1

Ingredients:

Pistachio milk

  • 125g of shelled raw pistachios
  • 1L of water
  • 2 tbsp of agave nectar or maple syrup
  • A pinch of salt

Matcha latte

  • 1 tsp of matcha powder
  • 2 tbsp of hot water
  • 235ml of pistachio milk
  • (Optional) 2 tsp of agave nectar or maple syrup

Steps:

Pistachio milk

  1. Soak pistachios in water for at least 4 hours or overnight. Ensure that the water covers the pistachios.
  2. Drain the pistachios and place them in a blender with 1L of water.
  3. Blend on high speed until the liquid is light green and frothy.
  4. Add in agave nectar and salt. Blend on high speed until combined.
  5. Drain the liquid through a nut milk bag or a fine-mesh strainer.
  6. Pour into a lidded glass container and store it in the fridge. The pistachio milk will be good for 3-4 days.

Pistachio matcha latte

  1. Dissolve matcha powder in hot water. Whisk using a matcha whisk.
  2. Warm pistachio milk in a saucepan and stir in agave syrup if you’d like it to be sweeter.
  3. Pour matcha into a cup then add in pistachio milk.

5. Strawberry matcha latte

This drink was inspired by the strawberry matcha latte at Boba Guys, a popular bubble tea chain in the United States. The 3-layer drink is made of a strawberry purée base, milk, and matcha. You can also add tapioca pearls or almond jelly toppings.

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • 5 large and ripe strawberries
  • 2 tbsp of sugar syrup
  • 1 tsp of matcha powder
  • 2 tbsp of hot water
  • 120ml of milk
  • Ice cubes

Steps:

  1. Slice the strawberries and place them in a bowl. Mash them into a purée. Add some sugar syrup if it is not sweet enough.
  2. Dissolve matcha powder in hot water. Whisk with a bamboo whisk until frothy.
  3. Add about 2 tbsp of strawberry purée into a cup as the base. Add ice cubes.
  4. Pour the milk into the cup, followed by the matcha.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp of hot water
  • 1 tsp of matcha powder
  • 3 tsp of sugar syrup or honey
  • 60ml of milk
  • 60ml of espresso
  • Ice cubes

Steps:

  1. Dissolve matcha powder and sugar syrup (or honey) in water. Whisk with a bamboo whisk until frothy.
  2. Pour it into a cup. Add some ice cubes.
  3. Pour the milk into the cup, then add espresso as the final step.

7. Cinnamon matcha latte with almond milk

Cinnamon powder is a spice derived from the inner bark of cinnamon trees. Its aroma and tanginess adds a kick to a regular matcha latte. Cinnamon is also high in antioxidants and can have anti-inflammatory effects.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp of matcha powder
  • 60ml of hot water
  • 60ml of almond milk or regular milk
  • 2 tsp of cinnamon powder
  • 2-3 drops of vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp of honey

Steps:

  1. Dissolve matcha powder in hot water. Whisk with a bamboo whisk until frothy.
  2. Add almond milk to a pan and put it on low heat. Add cinnamon powder, vanilla extract, and honey. Mix the ingredients until smooth.
  3. Pour the cinnamon milk mixture into a cup. Add the matcha mixture over it.
  4. If you prefer to have it iced, add ice cubes to the cup before pouring in the milk and matcha.

8. Vanilla macadamia matcha latte

Macadamia milk is thick, creamy, and smooth, making it a good choice when making rich matcha lattes. The nuts contain omega-7 fatty acids, which may promote skin, nail, and hair health.

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 65g of raw unsalted macadamia nuts, soaked overnight and drained
  • 2 pitted Medjool dates
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 625ml of water
  • 3 tsp of matcha powder
  • 1 tbsp of maple syrup

Steps:

  1. Blend macadamia nuts, Medjool dates, salt, vanilla, and water together in a blender for 60 seconds on high speed.
  2. Pour the macadamia milk through a nut milk bag or a fine-mesh strainer to strain out the nut pulp.
  3. Pour the macadamia milk into a pot over a stove and let it come to a slight boil.
  4. Remove from heat and whisk in matcha powder and maple syrup.
  5. Divide between 2 cups and enjoy.
  6. If you want to make an iced version, don’t heat the milk over the stove. Instead, pour the milk into a glass with ice cubes. Dissolve matcha and maple syrup with hot water and pour over the milk.
