Your parents may have told you not to play with your food. But that instruction will become a little difficult to follow once you get your hands on these MegaHouse’s Rubik’s Cubes that are inspired by instant cup noodles.

MegaHouse’s Rubik’s Cubes are based on the design of instant cup noodle products from Maruchan, a Japanese-American instant noodle brand.

The toy’s packaging is so realistic that it can easily be mistaken for the real thing. The instant cup noodle theme extends to the instruction manual for the Rubik’s Cube – it’s meant to resemble a packet of seasoning.

There are 2 Rubik’s Cube designs available – red kitsune and green tanuki.

Kitsune udon, which literally means “fox udon”, is a type of udon that’s topped with a piece of fried tofu.

Modelled after Maruchan’s Akai Kitsune Udon with Fried Tofu, an instant kitsune udon cup noodle that comes with red pepper seasoning, the red kitsune Rubik’s Cube is a predominantly white cube with a solvable orange-y side. The design on the solvable side is meant to depict the classic fried tofu topping.

The cube was released recently in end-May.

Green tanuki Rubik’s Cube

Tanuki soba is served with tempura scraps. The green tanuki Rubik’s Cube recreates said tempura flakes on its solvable side, while its packaging is designed to look like Maruchan’s Midori No Tanuki Instant Soba Bowl.

MegaHouse released this design in late-December 2020.
