My Love Story with Yamada-kun At Lv999 is a comedy romance series that centres on a love story between Akane Kinoshita and Akito Yamada, who are fellow guildmates in a game called Forest of Saviour.

When Kinoshita’s boyfriend dumps her for another girl he met online, Kinoshita rants to Yamada in-game. However, she merely receives an indifferent reply – “I’m not interested”. Kinoshita later bumps into Yamada at a physical gaming event, where she recognises him by his voice.

Kinoshita and Yamada’s chance encounter in real life sparks further interactions between the 2, giving Kinoshita the hope of restoring her faith in dating a gamer boyfriend. But given Yamada’s impassive nature, Kinoshita must work hard to make the relationship work.
