Located in Tokyo, Pompompurin Cafe (ポムポムプリンカフェ) is a themed cafe revolving around Sanrio’s golden retriever mascot, Pompompurin. With both adorably designed food and huggable plush toys in abundance, the cafe makes for a comfy dining spot.
Established in 2014, Pompompurin Cafe has a total of 4 branches in Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, and Nagoya, with its main and busiest branch situated in Tokyo.
The moment you enter, you’ll be welcomed by a statue of Pompompurin in the middle of the cafe, beckoning you to step forward. Seats are strategically placed around the Pompompurin statue, which means that if you choose a good spot, you get to stare at the giant mascot throughout your meal. Whether that’s a boon or a bane, we’ll leave it up to you to decide.

Throughout the cafe, you’d find Pompompurin plush toys dotting the place. Customers are free to pick up one to cuddle with or use as a photo prop. Just be careful with it while you’re eating!

Matching Pompompurin’s pudding-like colour scheme, the cafe staff’s uniform sports a brown and yellow design. The uniform was recently changed in July 2022 to better match Pompompurin Cafe’s interior and concept.

Aside from its interior and staff uniform, Pompompurin Cafe also offers menu items modelled after the golden retriever mascot. For instance, the Soufflé Omelette Rice (¥1,450, ~USD10.61) is made to look like Pompompurin napping while half-covered with a blanket.

Due to its cute design, the Soufflé Omelette Rice is one of the most popular dishes amongst customers.
As for drinks, we recommend getting Pudding-kun’s Custard Pudding Latte (¥880, ~USD6.44) and Muffin-kun’s Bittersweet Cafe Mocha (¥880, ~USD6.44). Both drinks come with Pompompurin-shaped snack chilling on a layer of whipped cream – how adorable
