Many travellers plan a day trip to Chiba prefecture for the iconic Tokyo Disneyland, or what the locals affectionately refer to as TDL. But the next time you visit TDL, you might want to carve out a day in your itinerary to pop by Mother Farm, one of the Chiba prefecture’s most popular attractions, that’s just a little over 2 hours away by public transportation.
Sitting on the Bōsō Hill Range, Mother Farm boasts a gorgeous view of a vast meadowland that’s covered in colourful blooms when spring hits.

Children who may be intimidated by large animals that tower over them are welcome to interact with smaller animals. At the petting zoo, cuddly animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and even ducks are being kept and taken care of.
Mother Farm’s most famous event is their sheep show, at which the shepherds introduce 19 different species of sheep from around the world to visitors. They also have other exciting shows which feature other equally adorable animals, such as a horse show.
Other notable happenings include a duck parade, a sheep run, and a pig race. Watching these little creatures roam around the grounds is adorable enough, but races? Parades? What a sight!
The schedules for various activities differ, so check the timetable that’s updated regularly on their official website before popping by Mother Farm.
The park also includes a small amusement park called Waku Waku Land at the top of a hill, which features a few small roller coasters, go-karts, and a monorail which offers visitors a panoramic view of the park.
Admission to the amusement park is separate from Mother Farm at an additional cost of ¥2,500 (~USD19.12). But if you’re planning to visit both, a combined ticket that’s discounted is available at ¥3,900 (~USD29.83) for adults and ¥3,200 (~USD24.48) for children.

Seasonal activities on the farm include strawberry picking, flower viewing, and dog park events. Visitors can also visit the farm’s many cafes that offer freshly made food products, such as ice cream and other sweet treats.
With so many things to do, one day on the farm is simply not enough. That’s why Mother Farm came up with a glamping section on the farm for interested visitors to stay the night.
These glorious domes provide guests with a cosy space to sit back and relax. With the greenhouse-esque design, guests can chill in a private space which overlooks the beautiful hilltop scenery.
Mother Farm is best accessed by car. But if you’re opting for public transportation, the nearest station is JR Kimitsu Station. Exit from the South Exit, and locate platform 1 at the station’s bus terminal.
From there, a bus runs daily, though with limited frequency. The ride to the farm takes 30 to 40 minutes, and a one-way ticket costs ¥720 (~USD5.51) for adults and ¥720 (~USD2.75) for children. Plan your schedule ahead of time by checking the timetable here.
Admission: ¥1,500 (~USD11.47) for adults, ¥800 (~USD6.12) for children aged 4 to 12
