MEGURU Bamboo Toothbrushes Reduce Plastic Waste So That You Can Keep Your Teeth & The Earth Clean

MEGURU bamboo toothbrushes

Made from natural materials such as bamboo and plant polymers, MEGURU’s bamboo toothbrushes are an eco-friendly option for people who want to keep their teeth and the earth clean. Take this chance to live a greener lifestyle – the toothbrushes go on sale from 10th June onwards.

Eco-friendly toothbrushes from MEGURU

Most toothbrushes are made from plastic. However, MEGURU – a brand that focuses on using recyclable and compostable materials – aims to reduce the reliance on plastic by rolling out bamboo toothbrushes instead.

These toothbrushes have handles made from fine bamboo powder and polylactic acid resin, which is an eco-friendly polymer made from plant materials. Thus, the handles are bio-degradable and emit less CO2 during incineration, as compared to regular plastic.

Even the bristles of the toothbrushes are eco-friendly. There are 4 types of bristles available – pig hair bristle, horse hair bristle, castor oil bristle, and ultra-fine bristle. According to MEGURU, the brushes made with pig and horse hair are “moderately soft”, and are thus suitable for those with sensitive gums. They cost ¥715 (~USD6.54) each.

For the most eco-friendly option, go for the castor oil bristle (¥715, ~USD6.54) It is created with 100% plant-based resin made from castor oil – a kind of vegetable oil.

There’s also the slightly cheaper ultra-fine bristle (¥660, ~USD6.04), which allows you to clean your teeth more thoroughly. However, do note that it’s made with saturated polyester, which takes a longer time to decompose as compared to the other materials mentioned above.

MEGURU’s bamboo toothbrushes on sale from 10th June onwards

The toothbrushes will go on sale from 10th June 2021 onwards. Bookmark MEGURU’s official website here to order your own eco-friendly toothbrush when the time comes. Part of the proceeds from the sale will go towards a forest conservation fund.
