Spy x Family – the anime that popularised “waku waku” (わくわく; onomatopoeia for excitement) – made waves with its superpowered family in April 2022. Set to continue its legacy is Spy x Family Part 2, which aired on 1st October.

Part 2 of Spy x Family features a new thrilling mission where Loid Forger must stop a bomber from running amok in Westalis. While we’ve correctly guessed that the new villain is from Ostania, Westalis’ rival country, the latest trailer reveals that his bombing objective is more criminal than we initially predicted.

The trailer gives us more insight into the terrorist’s goal, which is to spark warfare between Westalis and Ostania by assassinating the Westalis’ Foreign Minister Brantz. Though Twilight is an undercover agent in his own league, this new mission proves to be one of the hardest he’s encountered.

Chainsaw Man follows protagonist Denji in a world where humans and devils coexist, sometimes forming contracts for mutual benefit. In Denji’s case, he offered blood to an injured dog-like devil, Pochita, in exchange for the power to hunt other devils and clear his debts.

Denji eventually dies at the hands of a devil, but is revived after Pochita merges with his heart.
Post-revival, Denji gains Pochita’s powers and physical attributes that resemble the devilish pooch – a cord-like tail dangling from his chest and a chainsaw sticking out of his head. On top of that, his arms turn into chainsaws when he pulls on the tail and activates Pochita’s powers. It is from this point that he becomes known as the Chainsaw Man.

The Eminence in Shadow follows Cid Kagenō, who is teleported from present-day Japan to an isekai (異世界; different world) where magic is real.
Struck with chūnibyō (中二病; middle school syndrome), Kagenō believes he’s more special than others and sees his new magical world as fodder for his fantasies.

Kagenō envisages an enemy cult he must defeat and creates his own rival organisation, Shadow Garden. He then gathers members on the pretext of defeating the evil cult borne out of his imagination. Unexpectedly, the cult exists for real.
As Kagenō continues expanding Shadow Garden by spreading his “fantasies”, he unknowingly endangers himself further. We can only hope that his comrades, who ironically are all aware of the cult’s existence, are capable enough to help the middle schooler tide through the eventual confrontation.

Following a randomised draw, Moroboshi is selected to represent Earth in the game. Moroboshi eventually succeeds, but he unintentionally causes the alien princess to misinterpret his winning statement as a confession. As a result, Lum sticks to Moroboshi, making it hard for him to explain things to his girlfriend.
