Heads up, Potterheads! Backed by the glorious Warner Bros. Studio, your favourite book series is being brought to life once again as Japan is opening their very own Harry Potter cafe in Tokyo!
Nestled in the heart of Tokyo, Japan, the all-new Harry Potter pop-up cafe is located in the Akasaka Biz Tower.

Although this Harry Potter cafe is an ephemeral pop-up, the people behind it have yet to announce an end date. In other words, visit while you still can.

Officially opening on 8 July 2022, the cafe is holding a soft launch for extra-dedicated fans from now until 7 July 2022.
Stylised to resemble the stunning beautiful Hogwarts castle, the cafe promises fans an immersive Harry Potter experience, starting with their themed menu.

Not wanting to alienate any house, each house is duly represented on the menu, which offers dishes designed based on the 4 house colours.

Fan-favourite snowy owl Hedwig also makes an appearance as a dish! We’re not eating her of course, just a cake rendered into a pretty accurate image of Hedwig.

With such beautifully curated food items, what better place to enjoy them but in a wizarding cafe? The Harry Potter cafe’s insta-worthy interior decor instantly transports one from the streets of Tokyo to Scotland, where the famous wizarding school is located.

The Harry Potter cafe not only offers appropriately themed food and drink items, but also a wide array of souvenirs and knick-knacks at their gift shop. If for some reason you’re too lazy to make your way down – shame on you – the merchandise is also available for purchase via their online store.

If you purchase a minimum of ¥3,500 (~USD25.69), you get to bring your Harry Potter collectibles home in a limited edition Harry Potter paper bag. It’s got no Undetectable Extension Charm on it, but it’ll do the trick. It’s only available whilst stocks last, so hurry down!

The cafe is in fact not a stand-alone establishment but part of a Harry Potter Plaza in Akasaka, set up in celebration of the upcoming release of the Japanese stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The entire plaza underwent a magical transformation to be Harry Potter–fied – even the staircases are now fashioned after the moving staircases of Hogwarts castle. In the centre of the staircase stands a massive statue of a time turner – not to scale, of course.

There is also a gift shop called Harry Potter Mahoutokoro, where they sell an even greater selection of Harry Potter merchandise ranging from tote bags to hair ties.
