Sadako From The Ring Now Has A YouTube Channel, Subscribe To Her Or You’ll Be Cursed

Sadako launches YouTube channel

Having solidified her status as the icon of the Japanese horror genre, Sadako from The Ring is now venturing into other mediums. In her new life as an influencer in her new YouTube channel, the long-haired onryō (怨霊; vengeful spirit) will be giving us a glimpse into her private life when she’s not busy crawling out of television screens.

In her first official video, which was posted on 5th March 2022, Sadako explained that her motivation for starting a YouTube channel was to share her “private life as an actress” and to show the “teenage girl” side of her. Since then, her channel has garnered well over 48,000 subscribers and surpassed 600,000 views.

Unlike her menacing presence in The Ring, Sadako’s YouTube personality is much more cheery and gentle. Though she doesn’t talk, her animated hand gestures, coupled with subtitles, are more than enough to convey her excitement for the channel.

The YouTube newbie also shared some of the ideas she has for the channel, which includes trying new games, cooking, and even singing – pretty standard vlogger stuff. But once she reaches the milestone of 100,000 subscribers, she hopes to collaborate with Hikakin, a fellow Japanese YouTuber who has more than 10 million subscribers.

Besides having a little chat with her subscribers, Sadako also unveiled her room for the very first time. The layout is bare but ample – a stone well and a television console each occupying a corner of a Japanese-style tatami room.

The infamous well, which served as Sadako’s grave in the horror movie franchise, is now where she sleeps. Unexpectedly, Sadako’s favourite part of the room is actually the veranda, where she spends most of her time relaxing and reading scripts.

Q&A video

As part of every budding vlogger’s unspoken rite of passage, Sadako prepared a Q&A video where she goes deep and personal. Sharing everything and anything you need to know about herself, the vengeful spirit sat down and went through 100 questions, ranging from her first love to her favourite manga series at the moment.

Other videos include gaming content; notably, she tried out the popular survival horror game Dead by Daylight. In the game, she assumes the role of a killer, whose avatar happens to be Sadako herself. Though she is used to scaring the living daylights out of people, Sadako is not immune to jump scares and ends up being spooked.
