My Hero Academia is one of the most iconic anime series in recent times, and the long-awaited My Hero Academia Exhibition: DRAWING SMASH is finally opening on 23th April. Take this chance to snap selfies with your favourite heroes at the exhibition area and collect limited edition coasters from the themed cafe.
The special exhibition is held at the Mori Arts Gallery in Tokyo. It will end on 27th June 2021.

The exhibition boasts 5 themed exhibition areas, and each area is called a “chapter”. They are arranged in a linear fashion so that you’d begin from Chapter 1: Plus Ultra!! and end at Chapter 5: From The Origin, To The Future.

Amongst the 5 themed areas, Chapter 2: Days Of U.A.H.S is particularly noteworthy as it features decor modelled after U.A. High School, along with a diorama of the school building. Based on the concept art, we can spot Aizawa-sensei in the background too. We imagine it’d be fun to picture yourself as Midoriya’s classmate, thanks to the decor.

In Chapter 3: HEROES vs VILLAINS, there are standees of your favourite heroes as they face off against the League of Villains. Pick a side – heroes or villains – and feel free to snap as many pictures as you want.
In the same area, you’d also find a statue of All Might in all his muscled glory, recreating his iconic victory pose after his momentous triumph over All For One at the Kamino Ward.
Chapter 4: The Super Bout!! features a curation of manga panels detailing the various epic battles that occurred in My Hero Academia. The exhibition will be refreshed with a new curation of battles from 24th May onwards.

Several famous JUMP manga artists will be contributing artworks of My Hero Academia to this exhibition. This includes the manga artists for the “Big 3” – Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach, as well as Gege Akutami, the artist behind Jujutsu Kaisen. As every artist has their own distinctive art style, it’d be interesting to see how they’ll interpret the characters.
After touring the exhibition, head to the DRAWING SMASH CAFE, which sells food and drinks that draw references to the characters of My Hero Academia.
You can get Deku’s favourite pork cutlet rice (¥1,450, ~USD13.13), or try the spicy fried chicken soaked in black curry (¥1,500, ~USD13.89), a dish that accurately captures Bakugo’s fiery personality.
Don’t miss out on the milk and strawberry shaved ice dessert (¥1,380, ~USD12.77) that references Todokori’s distinctive red-white appearance.
The drinks menu also features beverages based on the 3 most popular U.A. students.
Todoroki’s drink (¥1,050, ~USD9.71) is a strawberry-flavoured soda with red jelly, while Bakugo’s “explosive” drink (¥1,080, ~USD9.99) is created with popping candy, strawberry syrup, and ginger ale. As for the sweet and mild-mannered Deku, his drink (¥1,000, ~USD9.25) is a melon soda topped with vanilla ice cream.
You can get a limited-edition coaster for each drink ordered. There are 3 designs available, but the coasters will be given out at random.

From 1st June to 27th June, the cafe will be selling a special Mineta pudding (¥1,330, ~USD12.32). The custard pudding is topped with grapes and garnished with a blueberry sauce, and only 50 plates are available per day. While Mineta may not be the most likeable character, the pudding certainly looks adorable.
The cafe will be open daily from 11AM-8PM. Visit their official website here.
The My Hero Academia exhibition will be opening this Friday, 23th April 2021. If you can’t make it to this Tokyo exhibition, fret not as a similar exhibition will be held in Osaka from 16th July to 5th September 2021 at the Grand Front Osaka North Building.
