If there’s anything Netflix is known for, besides being the go-to streaming site for binge watching, it’s their plethora of high-quality original series and films. Come April 2022 and you’ll be able to catch the first glimpse of Netflix’s latest original anime film, Bubble.

Set in an alternate-Tokyo where gravity is non-existent, Bubble follows Hibiki, a fearless traceur who manoeuvres skyscrapers and performs dangerous stunts. One bad move lands him in the sea where gravity is distorted, and he is saved by Uta, an enigmatic girl who possesses mysterious powers.
Based on the trailer, we can expect to see action-packed scenes and gorgeous animation. The anime feature film is scheduled to be released on Netflix worldwide on 28th April 2022, and will hit theatres in Japan on 13th May 2022.

Besides the stunning visuals, fans can also look forward to an opening theme song composed by Japanese singer-songwriter Eve. He first gained international popularity for Kaikai Kitan, one of the opening theme songs of Jujutsu Kaisen. This will mark his first anime single in almost two years – his last was the ending song for the 2020 film Josee, the Tiger and the Fish.

Also titled Bubble, the theme song will feature Riria., a fellow singer-songwriter who plays the main heroine Uta in the film. The film marks her first foray into voice acting. Besides the opening theme song, Riria. will be also singing the ending theme song, See You Later (Jyaa ne, Mata ne).

Aside from Eve and Riria., Netflix has also revealed the stacked cast behind the original feature film. Shison Jun, an up-and-coming actor, will lend his voice to the male protagonist Hibiki.
Other prominent voice actors include Miyano Mamoru, who is perhaps best known for his role as Light in Death Note, and more recently, Dōma in the latest season of Demon Slayer. Seasoned voice actors such as Kaji Yūki, who is the voice of Eren in Attack on Titan and Todoroki in My Hero Academia, will also be part of the line-up.
Wit Studio, who produced the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, and Ranking of Kings, will be overseeing the film’s animation production.
With just less than two months before Bubble drops on Netflix, be sure to check out the trailer here first. In the meantime, follow Netflix JP and Bubble’s official Twitter page for the latest updates.
