Capsule Hotel Ninja & Geisha: Elegant Lodgings With Edo Style Luxury From USD20 Per Night

Capsule Hotel Ninja & Geisha

At Capsule Hotel Ninja & Geisha in Osaka, visitors get to time travel to the Edo period thanks to the hotel’s elegant furnishings. With traditional lanterns and wall art inspired by ukiyo-e (浮世絵; woodblock prints), you’d almost believe that ninja and geisha will pass you by along the hallways any time.

Furnished to look like a wealthy Edo-inspired abode

Despite being a capsule hotel, Capsule Hotel Ninja & Geisha looks like it could be the abode of the wealthy and powerful. It’s furnished with natural materials including wood and stone, and decked out in shades of red, black, and gold.

Red lanterns illuminate the long passageway at the entrance of the hotel, setting a mysterious mood for your stay.

Traditional lanterns are also used to create the centerpiece, which looks like a chandelier reimagined in the Japanese style. This chandelier can be found in the lounge, which can be accessed by all hotel guests.

Echoing the traditional vibes of the lounge are sofa cushions sporting motifs of magical plants such as hollyhock, and mythical beasts such as dragons.

Japan is known for capsule hotels that are both affordable and stylish, but Capsule Hotel Ninja & Geisha takes it to the next level. The elegant, ukiyo-e design extends into the sleeping quarters, which makes the capsules look luxurious despite its cosy size. Motifs of samurai, Shinto deities, and kimono patterns decorate the interior of each pod, so your wandering imaginations can lead you to dreams of ages past.

According to O-IKE TRAVELING, the company behind this hotel, the theme is based on motifs that foreign tourists would consider “very Japanese”.

If these details are too visually overwhelming for you, opt for the plain white sleeping pods instead.

Modern facilities for maximum comfort & convenience

Besides being a spot to unwind and maybe make new friends with fellow guests, the lounge area also doubles as a co-working space for those on a workcation

These auxiliary facilities are located on level 5, the highest floor of this 5-storey hotel.

Levels 3 and 4 are the men’s and women’s quarters respectively. Both floors are home to the aforementioned sleeping pods, as well as spacious changing rooms and shower rooms. Of course, the facilities are pristine and spotless.

The women’s shower rooms are especially well-equipped with YA-Man Lift Dryers – hair dryers with ridged nozzles that can massage your scalp – and Panasonic Nanocare Steamers – facial steamers that help to moisturise and cleanse your skin.

Meanwhile, levels 1 and 2 are packed with surprises. Level 2 offers a fitness centre so health-conscious guests don’t have to miss out on exercising while on vacation. The ground floor houses a FamilyMart, which is a 24-hour convenience store. There, you can find toiletries, food, drinks, clothes, and even capsule toys on sale.

Security powered by smart tech technology

Here, guests can opt to check in at the counter, or skip the lines by pre-registering via a smart check-in tablet located in the lobby. Once that’s completed, you can collect a wristband that functions as a keycard throughout your stay.

All floor entrances can be unlocked with a swipe of your wristband. And though we’ve highlighted how the hotel’s walkways enshroud the place in an air of mystery, important spots such as the baggage storage area are well-illuminated and monitored, so that you can rest assured that your belongings will be safe.

There are locker rooms – brightly lit for safety – where you can keep bulky items safe if they can’t fit in your sleeping pod.
